Remembering 2001

Remembering 2001

It started out much like any other year,

The economy was a little weak but nothing severe.

We worked a lot of overtime so we could buy more stuff,

Somehow it seemed we just could not get enough.

We were all busy taking care of number one,

And by our neighbors we could not be outdone.

Then came that day when everything changed,

and in a moment our priorities were all rearranged.

Our children we now send off with an extra kiss,

not a moment of their lives do we want to miss.

Our hugs are a little tighter,

and our smiles a little brighter.

Rid the world of all terrorist we all chanted,

Our freedoms we no longer can take for granted.

We found out what was really important on that day,

And it changed us all for the better, I would say!
